oats upma

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup rolled oats
  2. 2 cups water
  3. 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
  4. 1 small onion, finely chopped
  5. 1 small capsicum , grated
  6. 1 small tomato, diced
  7. 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  8. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Optional: curry leaves, chilies, or other spices

Instructions

  1. Heat oil or ghee in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  2. Add chopped onion, grated capsicum and diced tomato. Saute until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Add oats and saute for a minute.
  4. Add water and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the oats are cooked.
  5. Garnish with chopped coriander or curry leaves (if using).
  6. Serve hot.
