oats upma
Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small capsicum , grated
- 1 small tomato, diced
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- Optional: curry leaves, chilies, or other spices
Instructions
- Heat oil or ghee in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
- Add chopped onion, grated capsicum and diced tomato. Saute until the vegetables are tender.
- Add oats and saute for a minute.
- Add water and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the oats are cooked.
- Garnish with chopped coriander or curry leaves (if using).
- Serve hot.
