SATTU HALWA

Ingredient

  • 1 tablespoon clarified butter (ghee), divided
  • 2-3 raisins
  • 2-3almonds
  • 2-3 pistachios
  • ½ cup sattu flour
  • 5 cups hot water
  • 1 tablespoon jaggery powder
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom powder

Direction:

  • Heat 1 tablespoon ghee in a pan. Roughly chop all the dry fruits and fry them in ghee till golden brown. Once done, keep it aside.
  • Now add ½ cup sattu flour in the same pan and roast it really well for 7-8 mins or until it changes colour to slight golden brown. Meanwhile, heat 1.5 cups of water in another pan.
  • Once the sattu flour is roasted well, add water in 2-3 batches and keep mixing to incorporate the flour with water. Keep stirring for 2-3 mins.
  • Now add jaggery powder and again mix well till the jaggery is melted and halwa thickens. This will take about 4-5 mins.
  • Once the halwa gets at correct consistency, add the roasted dry fruits and ½ teaspoon cardamom powder.
  • Mix everything well and finish off with another tablespoon of ghee. Remove and serve!
