Red Masoor Dal:

 

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup red masoor dal (red lentils)
  2. 2 cups water
  3. 1 onion, chopped
  4. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  5. 1 inch ginger, grated
  6. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  7. 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  8. Salt, to taste
  9. 2 tablespoons ghee or oil (optional)

 

Instructions

  1. Rinse the red masoor dal and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Drain and cook the dal in 2 cups of water until it’s tender.
  3. In a pan, heat ghee or oil and sauté cumin seeds, onion, garlic, and ginger.
  4. Add turmeric powder and salt to taste.
  5. Mix the cooked dal with the spice mixture and serve.
