Red Masoor Cheela without Tomatoes!

 

Here’s a simple recipe:

 

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup red masoor dal (red lentils)
  2. 1/2 tsp gram flour (besan)
  3. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  4. 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  5. 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  6. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  7. Salt, to taste
  8. 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
  9. Water, as needed
  10. Oil or ghee, for cooking

 

Instructions

  1. Soak the red masoor dal overnight and grind it into a paste.
  2. Mix the dal paste with gram flour, cumin seeds, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, and salt.
  3. Add water to make a thick batter.
  4. Heat a non-stick pan and pour a ladle of the batter.
  5. Cook until the edges start to curl and the surface is dry.
  6. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
