Moong Dal Idli

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup split green gram (moong dal)
  2. 2 tsp sooji
  3. 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds (methi seeds)
  4. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  5. Water as needed
  6. Oil or ghee for greasing idli molds

 

Instructions

  1. Soak moong dal, rice, and fenugreek seeds in water for 4-5 hours.
  2. Grind the soaked mixture into a smooth batter.
  3. Add salt and mix well.
  4. Ferment the batter for 4-6 hours or overnight.
  5. Grease idli molds with oil or ghee.
  6. Pour the batter into idli molds and steam for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with sambar and chutney.
