Dal Soup

Ingredients

– 1 cup split  lentils (masoor dal) or yellow lentils (moong dal)

– 2 cups water

– 1 onion, chopped

– 1 clove garlic, minced

– 1 inch ginger, grated

– 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

– 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

– Salt to taste

 

 

Instructions

  1. Rinse dal: Rinse the lentils and soak them for 30 minutes .
  2. Cook dal: Cook the lentils in water until they’re tender.
  3. Sauté spices: Sauté cumin seeds, onion, garlic, and ginger in oil or ghee.
  4. Add spices: Add turmeric powder and other spices (if using).
  5. Combine: Combine the cooked dal and spice mixture.
  6. Season: Season with salt to taste.
