Upma
Ingredients
- 1 cup semolina (rava)
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small tomato, diced ( not in night)
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- Optional: curry leaves, chilies, or other spices
Instructions
- Heat oil or ghee in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
- Add chopped onion and saute until translucent.
- Add diced tomato and saute for a minute .( not in night)
- Add semolina and roast until lightly browned.
- Gradually add water, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Cook until the semolina is cooked and the mixture thickens.
- Season with salt and garnish with chopped coriander or curry leaves (if using).
- Serve hot.
